Interpretation of Horizontal Well Production Profile Based on Distributed Acoustic Sensing

  • Understanding distribution of production fluid in each interval is of great significance to improve the decision-making level of horizontal well production. Traditional well logging technologies are difficult to meet the monitoring needs of the production profile of horizontal wells. Distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technology provides an important means to realize interpretation of production profile through monitoring the acoustic signals generated by downhole fluid production and flow. A full-size horizontal wellbore simulation system with DAS system has been established and a large number of experiments on the response of DAS acoustic signals to oil and water were carried out. Large amounts of DAS data were obtained under different flow rates and oil-water ratios. Then, the flow interpretation model and plate based on DAS frequency band energy (FBE) were established to interpret the production profile of horizontal wells. DAS production profile monitoring test was successfully conducted on the low fluid volume steam huff and puff horizontal well. The results show that the established flow interpretation plates quantitatively determined the production status of oil-water fluid in different intervals. According to the interpretation results of production profile, gel water shutoff measure was successfully implemented. After the measure, average daily oil gain was 5.5 t and comprehensive water cut was reduced by 7 %. The optic fiber monitoring method and FBE flow interpretation plates have important reference for an in-depth understanding of the distributed fluid production profile of horizontal wells and guiding profile regulation.
