Innovation and Application of Environmental Protection Technologies for the Drilling Fluids in Shengli Oilfield

  • In the drilling process of Shengli Oilfield, a large amount of drilling wastes were continuously generated with mixed composition and high toxicity. But the pollution control of drilling wastes in Shengli Oilfield was concentrated on the end harmless treatment with low waste resource utilization and high cost, which was impossible to realize the pollution control in the drilling process, and seriously threatened the ecological environment. In order to solve the environmental protection problems with the overall goal of "reduction, harmlessness, and resource utilization", new progresses were made in environmental protection technologies of drilling pollution sources control, drilling wastes reduction while drilling throughout the entire well section, and harmless treatment and resource utilization of drilling wastes. The environmental protection integrated technologies for the drilling fluids were finally developed covering "source control, process reduction, end treatment". During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the environmental protection integrated technologies were large-scale applied in Shengli, Sichuan and Xinjiang Oilfield, and a series of green and low-carbon drilling demonstration projects were established in the B-105、Y-222、Z-146 blocks of Shengli Oilfield, which provided environmental protection technical support for the green and low-carbon development of Shengli Oilfield, and also provided a useful reference for the green and low-carbon development of onshore oilfields in China.
